Transverse phase diffusion in Rayleigh-Bénard convection

چکیده

2014 By a formal expansion in gradient of the phase variable we obtain the equations governing the relaxation of zig-zags. The application has been developed for convection close to the threshold. We use an 03B5-expansion of the solution for the realistic case of no slip (rigid) velocity boundary conditions. We obtain : D~ = 03BE20/03C40 (03B4k/kc + F(Pr) 03B4Ra/Rac) where the numerical values of the different quantities are given in the text. Points of comparison with other theories and earlier results concerning zig-zag instability are discussed. J.
